BioPet Vet Lab, Inc. ( “BioPet Laboratories,” “BioPet Labs,” “BioPet,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. The following policy dictates the manner in which we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect personal information when you access or use any services provided by BioPet Vet Lab, Inc. including PooPrints®, DNA Proof of Parentage, DNA World Pet Registry®, and Know Your Pet DNA® including websites, products, and services (collectively any BioPet Services”).

BioPet Vet Lab and the collective services and websites collects and uses information gathered from users of this including visitors to BioPet websites, consumers who purchase or register DNA test kits, pet owners who submit pet DNA samples, and users who access genetic results through BioPet accounts (each, a “User”). This statement includes both The Company’s EU-US and Swiss-US Privacy Shield Statement, and the Website Privacy Statement. Privacy Users’ privacy is extremely important to us and we are committed to safeguarding the information you entrust to us. DNA World Pet Registry will not disclose information about customers or users without express permission unless the release of said information is required by government subpoena. BioPet Vet Lab, Inc complies with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework program (EU-U.S. DPF), the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF, and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework program (Swiss-U.S. DPF) as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce.  BioPet Vet Lab, Inc. has certified to the U.S. Department of Commerce that it adheres to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework Principles (EU-U.S. DPF Principles) with regard to the processing of personal data received from the European Union in reliance on the EU-U.S. DPF and from the United Kingdom (and Gibraltar) in reliance on the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF.  BioPet Vet Lab, Inc has certified to the U.S. Department of Commerce that it adheres to the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework program Principles (Swiss-U.S. DPF Principles) with regard to the processing of personal data received from Switzerland in reliance on the Swiss-U.S. DPF.  If there is any conflict between the terms in this privacy policy and the EU-U.S. DPF Principles and/or the Swiss-U.S. DPF Principles, the Principles shall govern. In compliance with the EU-US Data Privacy Framework Principles, BioPet Vet Lab, Inc. commits to resolve complaints about your privacy and our collection or use of your personal information transferred to the United States pursuant to the DPF Principles.  European Union, Swiss and United Kingdom individuals with DPF inquiries or complaints should first contact BioPet Vet Lab, Inc at info@biopetlabs.com.

BioPet Vet Lab, Inc as further committed to refer unresolved privacy complaints under the DPF Principles to an independent dispute resolution mechanism, Data Privacy Framework Services, operated by BBB National Programs. If you do not receive timely acknowledgment of your complaint, or if your complaint is not satisfactorily addressed, please visit https://bbbprograms.org/programs/all-programs/dpf-consumers/ProcessForConsumers for more information and to file a complaint. This service is provided free of charge to you.

If your  DPF complaint cannot be resolved through the above channels, under certain conditions, you may invoke binding arbitration for some residual claims not resolved by other redress mechanisms. 

 

Information Collection Practices and Uses

BioPet may collect personally identifiable information from Users in a variety of ways, including through online forms and other instances where Users are invited to volunteer such information. We may also collect information about how Users interact with our website. This information is obtained through analysis of server logs and through the use of “cookies” placed on user machines. A cookie is a piece of software that a Web server can store on a PC to identify the User should they visit the website again. While not all of the information that we collect from Users is personally identifiable, it may be associated with personally identifiable information that Users provide us through our website. For the purposes of administering the PooPrints® program and the DNA Proof of Parentage Program, Know Your Pet DNA, and other BioPet services, BioPet Vet Lab may collect the following types of data: Name, mailing and email addresses, phone number, account login credentials, order details, as well as dog name and general descriptors, which will be used only by the property or group or internal service of which the user is a member. BioPet may collect Genetic data derived from those samples, including breed composition, traits, parentage, and certain health-related genetic markers. BioPet does not collect, analyze, or store human genetic data. The Know Your Pet DNA Services are intended for informational and recreational purposes only and are not a substitute for professional veterinary care. Genetic results are not diagnostic and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease. Always consult a licensed veterinarian regarding pet health concerns.

When you submit a pet DNA sample, the sample and any extracted DNA may be stored in a BioPet-controlled biobank located in the United States, or the sample and/or extracted DNA may be destroyed after laboratory processing, at BioPet’s discretion. Once submitted, pet DNA samples and extracted DNA cannot be returned. Portions of samples may be used for laboratory calibration, validation, quality assurance, or similar operational purposes.

Use of Genetic Data

BioPet may use pet DNA samples, genetic data, results, and related pet information to provide and improve BioPet Services, for internal research and development, for laboratory quality assurance and optimization, for statistical analysis and service enhancement, for commercial purposes permitted by applicable law, In aggregated or de-identified form. You do not acquire rights in any research, datasets, or commercial products developed by BioPet or its collaborators and will not receive compensation related to such use. Pet genetic data is not sold and is not used for targeted advertising.

BioPet retains ownership of laboratory-generated genetic profile data. The data generated by the creation of the DNA profile of the dog will remain the property of BioPet Vet Lab. You may request deletion or de-identification of personal information associated with your BioPet, PooPrints, or Know Your Pet DNA account, subject to legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations by notifying BioPet Vet Lab, Inc.. Deletion of personal information does not require destruction of de-identified or aggregated genetic data already incorporated into research, analytics, or operational systems.

BioPet Vet Lab acknowledges that EU and Swiss individuals have the right to access the personal information that we maintain about them. An individual who seeks access, or who seeks to correct, amend, or delete inaccurate data, should submit a written request to using the contact information listed above. If requested to remove data, we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Information Disclosure

BioPet Vet Lab, owner of the DNA World Pet Registry will not sell, rent, or trade, or disclose personal information about customers or users without express permission unless the release of said information is required in response to a lawful request by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements. BioPet Vet Lab may be liable for appropriate onward transfer of personal information to third parties. We may share unidentifiable information for the reasons to work with service providers who assist in operating BioPet Services (e.g., laboratories, hosting providers), subject to confidentiality obligations, in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets involving BioPet Services.

 

Confidentiality

Clients have the right to request sight of, and copies of any and all Client Records we keep, on the proviso that we are given reasonable notice of such a request. Clients are requested to retain copies of any literature issued in relation to the provision of our services. Where appropriate, we shall issue Clients with appropriate written information, handouts or copies of records as part of an agreed contract, for the benefit of both parties.

We will not sell, share, or rent your personal information to any third party. If we change this policy in the future, we will alert you and also provide individuals with an opt-out or opt-in choice before we share their data with third parties other than our agents, or before we use it for a purpose other than which it was originally collected or subsequently authorized. Any emails sent by this Company will only be in connection with the provision of agreed services and products. If there are any changes to our privacy policy, we will announce that these changes have been made on our home page and on other key pages on our site.

If there are any changes in how we use our site customers’ Personally Identifiable Information, notification by e-mail or postal mail will be made to those affected by this change. Any changes to our privacy policy will be posted on our web site 30 days prior to these changes taking place. You are therefore advised to re-read this statement on a regular basis.

Information Security and Integrity

All reasonable precautions will be taken to protect personal data from loss or misuse from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction and to ensure that data are accurate, up to date, relevant and reliable for their intended use.
